Examination of the histology of boll weevil fat body types

Problem: We previously documented both gross visual and biochemical characters of at least three distinct boll weevil fat body types.  However, fine characters of these fat body types have not been examined.
Objective: To examine and describe differences in fine structure of juvenile, reproductive, and dormant fat body types, including cell sizes, cellular arrangements, and presence of selected inclusions
Approach:

   Significant Impact:

These observations should provide additional insight into the developmental responses of boll weevils exposed to specific diets.
