Influence of regrowth cotton on boll weevil diapause induction and host-free survival

Problem:
Objective:
Approach: We will investigate diapause induction and host-free longevity in weevils fed regrowth cotton under naturally-occurring photoperiods and temperatures.

   Significant Impact:

Preliminary studies last year indicated that a small proportion of weevils fed non-fruiting, regrowth cotton for 14 d could attain diapause characteristics, and feeding on such plants could extend host-free longevity.
