Comparison of Aerial Application Droplet Size Measurements
from Field and Wind Tunnel Studies
|
Problem: |
Droplet spectra data collected from various instruments in
wind tunnel studies differ from the droplet size data collected from field
deposition studies because of droplet evaporation and loss once the droplet
is released from a spray nozzle. |
|
Objective: |
To compare droplet spectra data collected from wind tunnel
studies with deposition data from a variety of string and card samples.
|
|
Approach: |
Field trials will be conducted in College Station. The
trials will use the Unit’s monofilament swath system, a WRK string system,
water and oil sensitive cards, vertical strings, and rotor rods. The
various sampling data collected will be compared to wind tunnel data already
collected for ASAE reference nozzles. |
|
Significant Impact: |
This will facilitate a greater understanding of droplet
size data for future pesticide labels, spray application models, and various
research studies. |
